About Catherine Liberty

catherine_coaching_1Catherine Liberty suffered with bulimia nervosa for over 10 years, bingeing and purging generally upwards of ten times a day, every day, and as a direct result of her eating disorder she also developed a debilitating anxiety disorder.

In January 2009 she hit an all time low and experienced a breakdown that ultimately pushed her to decide to commit to recovery no matter what. She used the Bulimia Help Method for her recovery and never looked back.

Once recovered, in her own free time Catherine began to coach others in recovery at the Bulimiahelp.org website. It was clear to see that her passion for recovery was infectious and not long after this she become employed with Bulimiahelp.org as a full time recovery coach.

Over the past 5 years Catherine has successfully coached hundreds of sufferers from all over the world using her knowledge, passion and commitment to recovery.

A word from Catherine.

photoIf you’re interested in recovery coaching but you’re unsure of whether it’s going to be right for you the best advice I can give you is to simply give it a chance. Be brave, be open to change and give yourself the opportunity to see just how incredible life can be when you create a calm and peaceful relationship with food and your body.

Although I only suffered from bulimia for a little over ten years (I say “only” because many of the people who I coach have been sick for at least double this amount of time) my problem with food and my inability to accept my body had been an ongoing, lifelong battle.

I went on my first extreme diet at 6 years old, I continued with the vicious cycle of binge eating and extreme restriction until age 14, when my disordered eating progressed into bulimia.

I had been sick for my entire life but ultimately it did not stop me from recovering. If you’ve been sick for a very long time too you may feel that all hope has been lost but I am telling you right now that you can recover, even if you never remember a time when you were normal around food or happy with your body.

It is possible to transform your life and when I’m faced with the prospect of working with someone who has suffered with bulimia for decades, someone who can not remember life without their eating disorder (Like Pat Mary who I coached to full recovery after 43 years of bulimia!) I can tell them, with 100% honesty and faith, that it does not matter.

It does NOT matter how long you have been sick.
It does NOT matter if you can’t remember life before your eating disorder.

If you are willing to commit to recovery and if you are ready to change your life then recovery is ALWAYS possible. So please don’t allow your eating disorder to convince that it’s too late.

As long as you’re willing to put the work in I know you can turn your life around like I did. I would be happy to help you find your way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is coaching helpful for?

Recovery coaching can be helpful at any stage of the recovery process, but it may be especially beneficial if you:

  • Are just starting out on the road to recovery and feeling overwhelmed by the task ahead.
  • Have little to no support at home or have not told friends/family about your bulimia.
  • Are experiencing lots of relapses and believe full recovery is impossible for you.
  • Have lost faith in the recovery process or feel you have hit “rock bottom”.

Can anyone sign up for recovery coaching?

As long as I have a space available for you then yes, absolutely! I’m happy to work with anyone over the age of 18 who feels they could benefit from 1-on-1 recovery coaching sessions.

How long does recovery take?

Unfortunately there are no quick fixes so total recovery wont happen overnight. While everyone is different, you can typically expect to see big improvements within the first 3 to 5 months. Recovery is challenging, but at the end of it all you will receive the greatest gift – your freedom – your recovery!

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No. This is a confusing issue for many as the two services are similar and may be used together.

A therapist tends to focus on exploring past issues and underlying problems where as a coach focuses more on problem solving and taking action towards recovery.

Coaching is a non-clinical personal development service in which the coach works with the client to set the agenda, the goal, and the desired outcome.

Will my weight spiral out of control in recovery?

Definitely not. Studies show that most people with bulimia end up 1-2lbs around their weight range prior to recovery.

How will I know when I am recovered?

Put simply, you will know when you are recovered from bulimia because you will no longer crave or desire to binge on food.

What if I buy it and still feel it has not helped me?

Our guarantee lasts for 7 days. We ask everyone who does not feel it has helped to email us for a full refund. We will return your money within a 48 hour period – no questions asked.

I’ve been failing at recovery for years, how will this be any different?

Unlike most treatment options we address the core issue of food restriction head on. Many find our approach is successful after having failed at recovery multiple times.
